citrus

Citrus is so amazing this time of year, we eat so many satsumas, I can never seem to keep enough around. Bowls of citrus or scattered along the table are so simple and decorative while they last.

Roast chicken with lemon and satsuma squeezed on top with a generous amount of cumin, salt and pepper was a perfect Saturday dinner.

What do we look for?  How do we see? What do we focus on?  A capture in time and fleeting moment, an embodiment of that moment. Sometimes you just need a blast of color.  Bursts of bright pink.

Long before I was married, I used to watch (a lot of) movies with my husband and we said if something was filmed well, you could press pause at any moment and the still would be great.  We used to do that so much and time and time again it proved to be right.  That maybe all of this hurry up and get on to the next big event or mile marker in life is missing so much. Lets press pause more often.

rainbows & summer colors

The true essence of summer, flush with juicy colors like watermelon, peach, apricot, cantaloupe, coral, tomato, goldenrod, raspberry and tangerine.

Zinnia are such a happy and cheerful summer flower that come in so many amazing colors.  They look great simply arranged in a tomato can.

Summer is all about freshly picked fruit, I've been making these popsicles from Molly Orangette at least once a week.  I like to use vanilla yogurt and use less sugar.  Make them in the morning and eat them in the afternoon.  They taste like heaven.
